SUN CUTTER // SUN CUTTER

€28.00

12” VINYL

The eponymous debut album from Sun Cutter is released on January 7th, 2022 on Bronzerat Records (Gemma Ray, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Still).
The first single 'Daylight Star' found love on BBC 6Music with Marc Riley, Mark Radcliffe, Tom Robinson, Absolute Radio, and US college radio. The album will be preceded by the animated video for What Can I Do? (directed by Dutch artist Lotte Boots, also responsible for the album artwork), and the single Don't Fail Me Now.
Sun Cutter (real name Kevin Pearce) hails from Colchester. Three years ago at the age of 33, Kevin suffered a heart attack (on a golf course). As well as having to redress some lifestyle habits, his rehabilitation involved writing and recording the Sun Cutter project. It is an album of beautiful driving, harmony-drenched indie-soul folk-pop/rock that looks to the light for reflection. Sun Cutter's songs of love and protest befit the man, and his politics of empathy are also demonstrated by his work as mental health charity worker (Mind). His tone and delivery can invoke Alex Chilton, Tim Buckley, or even John Grant on occasion.
Co-produced with pal Dean Honer (The Moonlandingz,Eccentronic Research Council, Pins.
Dean Honer is also one half of I Monster, and Kevin lent his voice and guitar to the acoustic version of "Daydream In Blue" which soundtracked the Magnum ice cream ads in 2020.
Previously he has released (under his real name) the album "Matthew Hopkins & The Wormhole" (AWAL), a concept record about the Witchfinder General who lived in the same village (Mistley in Essex)
